I haven't had an AD or ND, but when I was in the academy we had a guy re holster with his finger in the trigger guard, put a round of .45 acp through his thigh and calf, pretty nasty.

Was dove hunting one day and had my single shot 12 gauge. A dove was coming my way so i cocked the hammer back but then it changed direction and didnt pull the trigger. i forgot i had pulled the hammer and left it like that. Short while later, had the gun resting on my shoulder when I turned and guess a stick hit the trigger and BAM! thought I had blown my head off. didn't touch me at all but could have been very bad. always check your guns.

I've never had an accidental discharge. I've had a negligent discharge because I was an idiot and didn't keep my booger picker off the bang switch until I was on target and ready to shoot. Luckily no one got killed.

Never had an AD of ND so far. The closest I have come was dropping a cocked and locked 1911 on the beaver tail. Scariest gun handling moment by far.

I was 14-15yrs old. Had a reproduction black powder Navy revolver I had ordered out of the Cabelas catalog. I was out on the pipeline behind the house playing wyatt earp quick drawing etc one day.At one point I drew and cocked the hammer but thought I let the hammer down. I was about to reholster and somehow hit the trigger with it pointed at the ground. It went off and I looked down and there was a hole in the ground about an inch from my foot. Scared me pretty good.

So far, I've managed to miss out on both. I've came close before. Knock on wood.

The 10/22 scenario you speak of is negligence. You pulled the trigger when you weren't planning to... that's no accident the gun went off like its supposed to, when the trigger is pulled.

Im not above it, I've had my share of negligent discharges... but we need to own up to them and learn from them or they will happen again.
I disagree, there is no AD. He mentioned in his post that the trigger had been worked on.

Not me personally, but I was close by.
                    1) I was at the river cabin with family sitting around the fire with my son who was 5 or 6 at the time. I had just stood up to carry him and put him in bed when I heard a firecracker like pop. My uncle had a 22 caliber hole through the meat between his thumb and first finger. Seems like some DAs had a couple of misfires a few weeks before and threw them in the fire pit.
                    2) FIL was showing off his new Kimber, racked the slide, dropped the magazine, pointed at the ground and pulled the trigger. New round of underwear all around.
                    3) At the lease a few years ago. Getting out of the stand at dark, I heard a shot. Buddy was picking up another from his box blind. One handed down the ought six over the rail of the 5 ft tall stand. Guy on the ground grabbed the rifle and squeezed a round off. Both were scared to death.
All three were NDs, and thank God nobody was hurt.

Just one. And I'm glad it was on the range with muzzle pointed at back stop. I had just had my trigger worked. Was at 2#. Well when I closed the bolt my finger hit the trigger and fired. Scared the crap out of me.

Had an ex father in law do it with a 1911 at the dinner table. Wife was cooking across the room, he was check the safety, boom! The 45 acp went through her purse, through the wooden built in bookshelf, off the bottom of the entertainment center below the tv, and bounced off the love seat. Not a scratch on the bullet but landing grooves.

Not saying I'm perfect by any stretch of the imagination, so my day may come. I've not had one yet. Been handling firearms for 32 years. By the way, there is no such thing as an accidental discharge. There is, however, a nasty beast called a negligent discharge.
