    30-30 reloaders. Input needed

So since im starting this 30-30 project, i figure ill reload for it in the near future. I have never loaded for 30-30. The extent of my reloading has been precision rifle ONLY.

I would like to hear some input on what loads you use, and what velocity, etc you get and barrel specs if you can.

If you cant, then load data is good.

    Thanks in advance!!

I've loaded various 150gr "30-30" bullets all w H4895. I can check the charge when I get home this evening.

Finding 30-30 bullets is darn near impossible right now unless you want to load cast bullets.

Has anyone shot hornady SSTs in a 30-30?

I can see that being a fail. What velocity are they designed to expand at?

        EDIT:

        SST® (Super Shock Tip)
Rapid, controlled expansion with deep penetration.
Recommended muzzle velocity range: 2000 to 3300 fps

These are going to be about as good as you'll get.

I've shot the factory lever evolution ammo but accuracy is poor in my Marlin. It shot good in a contender carbine I had though.

Mono flex is what the lever revolution ammo is loaded with?

Yes Sir. Softer tip to prevent detonation in the tube from primer strikes by bullet tips. I haven't reloaded 30-30, just 44mag and 357mag for lever guns. Looking forward to seeing some of the results from the others that do run that cartridge

I don't reload for my Winchester but I will be loading some 125 nosler ballistic tips for my contender carbine...as soon as I get off the AR kick and buy a barrel.

Why not shoot cast in my opinion, but I can't help beyond that 30-30 is not in my small load book yet

i'm loading 170 gr hard cast/gas checked bullets in 30/30 and 32 win special. Hard cast bullets flat out get it done at sub 100 yd ranges.
                      2011 marlin 336 30/30
                      1954 win mod 94 32 special
for plinking try unique-everything seems to like 9-10grs of unique.
for hunting (around 1700-1800fps) try 4198, 18 grs should get you around 1600 and you can build from there.

much past 1750-1800 fps and leading becomes an issue.

10grs of Unique under a 170 gr hard cast bullet will be subsonic if that makes a difference in your project.

The hornady flex tip is not a failure by any means. Every thing I have seen or a friend has seen has been very devistating to what ever it hits. IMR 3031 is a good powder to start with. A 30-30 is not hard to find a load by any means. 125-170 grain is ideal. 125gr is light and pleasant. 170gr hammers. But if your gun shoots the flex tips and your hunting with a scope then that is the go to bullet.

I'm not shooting lead at all through this thing. It will be suppressed. Big no no with a sealed rifle can.
