    Taurus 24/7 Jammed

    I have a 4 year old Taurus 24/7.

While shooting this weekend, it didn't eject a shell. My son cleared the shell and tried to jack another, The slide closed and wouldn't fire. Now, the slide appears to be jammed and there appears to be a live round below bolt/above the trigger.
The "key" that allows you to remove the slide seems to be wedged and cannot be removed.

    What should I do next?

BTW....I'm not experienced in gun repair.

Live round in the barrel... you not being experienced....

Take it to a gunsmith. That's the only option I would give you, better to be safe than sorry, or dead.

Another reason why I don't like "MIM" (metal injected molding) versus machined parts like a Kahr. Water under the bridge but a Glock is pretty cheap and goes bang every time.

I've seen and heard a lot of Taurus breaking. Taurus is very accurate shooting gun, just the question is when will they break.

I'm of the frame of mind that if you can push the slide against a hard object like a table to get the slide locked to the rear(keeping the gun in a safe direction) you can get to were you can get the round out. If this isn't do'able take it to a gunsmith.

Oh theres a bunch of things you could do to clear it and get it working again.

BUT the OP as a novice Im in the frame of mind to tell him to take it to some one with more experience. JMO but I'd hate to give some random guy on the internet information that gets him hurt. A little bit of information is a deadly thing when messing with loaded firearms.

JMO though theres plenty of people walking around just fine with 9 fingers or 9 toes.

I'm not an expert but I'm betting mim parts had nothing to do with the failure.

Depending on which hahr you are speaking of there are a few models thar DO have a mim part or two on them.

Read this article. The highlighted area speaks on mim parts.

To the op. I would take it to a gunsmith and have them identify what happened and repair the gun so you don't have any more issues out of it.

Take it to a gun smith, a friend at the sheriffs office lost tip of his finger when the exact same thing happened to him. He hit back of slide and the weapon fired, removed the top of pinky finger.

If you havent made it to the gunshop yet i would tell you this sounds so simple it's stupid but i just remembered when this happened with my FNP. Rather than jerking on the slide as everyone myself included does pull on it hard while making sure to keep your finger and extremities off the trigger and while pointing in a safe direction. Most guns when they jam like that everyone loves to jerk on the action and then say it's stuck. If you just apply a liberal amount of CONSTANT pressure it might free itself. Again while pointing in a safe direction fingers away from the trigger. If that doesnt work gunsmith, they love to hit guns with nylon hammers

Owned 24/7 DS in .45. Said it was the spring inside mag that's causing mine to not eject properly or seat properly for it to slide into chamber after being fired but yours sounds like a more serious issues. I got new mags from Taurus cause it was lifetime warranty and then sold it.

I haven't worked on it, yet.

My plan is to only get it "un-jammed" and then send it to Taurus because there could be a live round in the gun....and according to their website, they will call the law on you if you send it with a live round.

Anyone know a gun smith in the N. Dallas area that isn't booked for the next year?
