Since these are both made my Federal, and both 55 grain, they should shoot identical right? Do you think I will notice any difference in accuracy thru the scope at 100 yards? What do y'all think
I'd bet they won't shoot identical and may even shoot several inches from each other at 100. Hard to say, but I've had very few rifles that shot different ammo to the same POI...even they same weight bullet. I'd also think that the 5.56 should technically be hotter( and slightly longer OAL) and them loads may even use different powers. I hope yours does because that would be very convenient! Let us know because my little Colt loves the American Eagle.
It won't be the same but it won't be too drastic of a change, I shoot mixed loads while hunting never had any issues and I'm doing neck and head shots only.

5.56 usually have compressed powder load to push a higher PSI and faster lead down range. Hence the reason why the primers are crimped into the cartridge. Obviously with 223, has less a powder load and they will shoot different.
So, the 556 will have a flatter trajectory than the 223. 100 yards you may not see too much a difference, but if you go out further, 200, 300 etc., you will see a significant difference.
IMO, setup your 100yd zero at your favorite round and Kentucky Windage it when you load your non-favorite round.

I would think no, but I don't think it will be that much of a change. Just plink with the ones you that aren't your primary. My Ar ammo is all mixed loads and bullet weights, some's for hunting and the rest is for wasting.

I will make 5.56 my primary ammo. Thanks for the info!
556 is ball ammo only, meaning FMJ in 55 and 62gr and OTM in 77gr with no expansion. great for shooting in Geneva Convention situations, but not for hunting if you want tissue damage. head shots wont matter in this case as it will smack the crap out of a cranium
