    Weatherby Info

I inherited a couple of German Weatherby rifles that have been safe queens for about 40 years. They both have the Weatherby 2x7 variable scopes. One is a 300 Magnum, the other a 243.

Is there a way to tell the date of Manufacture from the Serial #?

I think you can e-mail Weatherby to get a date. I have a book around here somewhere that lists serial numbers/year. I'll see if I can find it.

As close as my book gets is anywhere between 1959 and 1973 with serial numbers between 20001-43730

Thanks. I know these guns were made in the 50's. Probably before 59. I'm going to try to contact them tomorrow.

Mark V production started in '58 and weren't produced in Germany until '59. No pre-59 guns were produced in Germany to my knowledge.

There were Weatherbys produced in the 50's, but mostly in California, with some made in Denmark and Finland.
