    Thoughts on 375 H&H

I've come across and deal(not a steal) on a Remington Safari 375 H&H w/Leupold scope and was wanting some yays or nays to adding one to the bunch. I don't NEED it, but then again I done "need" 1/2 the guns I already have. Thanks

Buy it. It's the most versatile round in existence. With good stock fit, the recoil is on par with a .300 magnum. A 270 Barnes TSX at 2700-2800 fps will do just about anything needs doing anywhere in the world out to 300 yards. I love my CZ550 Euro hogback stock one. It's a little on the heavy side for a .375. The Remington Safari should be just about right weight-wise. I've never shot a whitetail buck with mine, but it's quite effective on whitetail does.

What else do you want to know?

Can I borrow some $? hahaha

I have high hope of one day making it to the Black Continent, but I don't want to buy a gun just for that MAYBE....But if its as versatile as your saying, and I've read about, then I guess there is no harm in having one in the pile. Besides, who doesn't need 1 more gun?!?

I carry a fn Browning 375 in my truck. open. sights.

kills coyotes and hogs and other critters as good as a 270.

        id buy it

fantastic caliber and will take any game animal in the world, seeing as it will meet the minimum caliber requirements some african contries enforce for cape buffalo/elephant.

I prefer a controlled feed action for a big game rifle, but it is not the end-all, be-all. The gun would suite your just fine.

If you are going to be picky about it, I would look for a CZ or a Winchester Model 70 as an entry level .375, as these guns have controlled feed.

One of my favorite guns. Dropped pretty much everything I shot in Africa, including lion, in its tracks.

Fantastic caliber for the bigger animals. If you are buying it just for Africa and only plan to hunt plains game, it is overkill. If you plan on hunting dangerous game, not only in Africa but in North America as well, jump all over it.

That's funny right there! A 375 for hogs and coyotes. Go big or go home as they say!

After seeing my PH with one in Africa, I've always wanted one. I can tell you it will knock a babion out of a tree pretty easily

T8 - I was on the fence until I read your post hahaha.....But, like you, my "just because" itch is the driving force on this deal.

Thanks for all the comments, I'll post pics if/when the deal goes down.

Truthfully, im not real sure why i want one. I have lusted after a ruger number one in 375 h&h for years. But then i want a CRF bolt gun for when i go to africa.... it will happen before i die.... If its a good enough deal then why not? Good nilgai or elk or moose gun. And its always fun watching someone shoot one for the first time

About the same trajectory as a 30-06 but with quite a bit more punch.

The recoil is more of a push than a slap. Yes it kicks but not as uncomfortably as some smaller caliber magnum rounds.

The controlled round feed versus push feed always starts arguments when folks are talking about Dangerous game rounds.

But honestly, plenty of dangerous game has fallen to push feed remingtons.

They don't tear up meat nearly as badly as some folks think when loaded with a quality bullet.

Don't be afraid to shoot deer with it.

I'd say get it cause the .375 is the best squirrel gun on the planet. When you get a squirrel hanging out way at the top of a tall tree get straight under him and let that .375 do it's work. One shot kill guaranteed.
