    10-22 options

Thinking on getting a 10-22 for plinking and just to break the boys in on (have a 6 and 4 yr old) wondering if I should get the compact version for length of pull, or just get a standard and put an adjustable stock on it? any disadvantage either way? will probably put a small scope on it at some point. would be nice to be able to pull that off and on. thanks.

also thinking about a ruger american in 22-250 or similar I think they make a compact version as well.

It's easy to change stocks on 10/22s. Get the compact version and then replace the stock when needed.

That American is really sweet and the 22-250 would be a keeper for your kids for years to come. I started my sons out on the little single shot 22's..lots of them available and cheap. I was hesitant when the boys were little with a semi for obvious reasons. Not sure what prices you can find in your area, but there is a shop in Stephenville that sells the American's for $349 new. Have fun and enjoy teaching your kids our sport.

You know I didn't think about the semi auto part right away. . should have. I have grampa's old marlin model 60 they can shoot as well. I think I might go for the American in 22.250 been thinking on it. I guess I'll go with the shorter length of pull model.

go to a pawn shop and look around for an old beater 10/22, I know I know but there are some still out there at a decent price {I bought 2 last year for under 150 not beat up with decent scopes for a 22}then get them some kinda ar15 kit with multi postion stock so many options with a 10/22

223 might be a better starter center fire than the .250 ...
            certainly cheaper to shoot.
            ( and I own 2 - .22-250's )
I just cant think of a better startup than the .223
