    SIG P290 or SIG P938

Looking to get another carry pistol for the warmer weather. My G27 is just a tab bulky.

    Anyone have the P290? P938?

    Which is better and why?

The guy behind the counter at academy did not care for the P290.

Was he just trying to up-sell me?

I have the 938 and love it. My everyday carry and shoots great!

I don't own either but I've shot both. The P290 is double action while the P938 is single action and also has an external safety (which I don't prefer on a pocket gun). They are pretty similar in size...I'm not a fan of the 290's trigger and I like the feel of the P938's grip and its finish. I really like the 1911s!!

Heard the P938 had some extractor issues when the gun first came out but Sig corrected it. Hey, they are Sig, so reliability isn't an issue. You can't go wrong with either IMO.

I'm in a similar boat. I'm a fan of the 1911 so I've narrowed it down to the P238 and the P938. I was just at the gun shop yesterday (again) and I think I've narrowed it down to the 938. Just wish I could find one in the Scorpion finish. My shop only has the Sport (rubber Hogue grips) and the Texas Edition. The Texas edition is all black with Rosewood grips. Has the texas star engraved on the grips and an outline of Texas on the top of the slide. Pretty sweet looking. I really like the way the 938 feels in my hand. It lines up nicely and it fits well on my frame.

        I vote the 938!

I'll be getting a p938 sport model here soon!
Like the 1911 style and the the rubber grips+the pinky extension make it larger enough to comfortably fit in my hand

I haven't shot the 290, but I carry a 938 daily, when on duty it's my backup, when off duty it is my primary. I love it because it operates almost exactly like my 1911, nearly same capacity, decent trigger, and i like a thumb safety. I hate double action triggers.

I'd go with the p938. Only thing I have against it is the safety but it's similar to a 1911 so it's a must.

I carry the 938. It is small and accurate. It is SA with an external safety. I use the extended mags. I don't like having my pinky hanging out with nothing to grip. I have no experience with the 290 other than handling it a little. I'll keep my 938

I love my p938. Extremely easy to carry and can be carried with out a holster in your pocket.
