    .25-06 Handloads

I am putting together a custom .25-06 that is nearly complete. I am looking for suggestions for several bullets to try in this gun. I currently have 110gr Accubonds that I plan to load. What other bullets would you recommend for deer out to 250 yards or so? The barrel is 24" 10 twist.

My TC encore loved the 90gr sierra blitzking. 51gr of IMR 4831 seat at saami max length. Shot a doe at 175 yards and had pass through, so I'm not worried about it being labeled as "varmint" round. Exit hole was about a quarter.

See if the gun likes these first. If it shoots well your won't find much better IMO.

Good luck and post some results.

Ill look up my recipe tonight. I shoot it through an older heavy barrel Ruger M77 and they shoot lights out accurate through that gun.

Nosler 115 Ballistic Tip over H-4831SC. The 115 NBT is a great bullet for what you are asking it to do.

My Ruger loves the Hornady 120-gr spire points---flat base, not boattails. Propellant is either 4831 or 4831 SC lit off by Winchester Lge Rifle Primers.

I got the 110gr Accubond to shoot well out of a 24" Shilen 1/10 twist tube in my old .25-06 over H4831, but had to hold the velocity to 3140fps. Accuracy suffered beyond that. Your gun will likely be different, it may shoot heavy bullets OK or it may prefer lighter 100 gr bullets, but you should be able to find a charge weight and seating depth to make the Accubonds work. There's so many bullets and powders available you can literally drive yourself crazy trying different combinations. That said, I'd try to see if what you have works, it's a good bullet.

My ruger m77 loves the Federal 117 grain Sierra gameking btsp. The deer and hogs hate it. Back in youth season my 12 year old step son shot 2 does with it DRT and his next words were can I have this gun.

Granddads 77 shoots this over 51 grains of IMR 4350.
When I ran the test loads with my rifle, I shot 110 Gn accubonds over H4831, IMR 4895 and IMR 4350. Ended up at 52 gn of 4350, and I can shoot under an inch without bags.

For 25 caliber bullets, my favorite in order are, 110 Accubonds, 100 gn TSX, 115 BT's and any Sierra tie for 3rd. And those aren't separated by much
