    Suppressor and NFA Trust questions

    1. How long is the process from emailing the lawyer for the trust to picking up the suppressor?

    2. Does everyone named in the trust have to sign anything?

    Thanks

    1. 13 months from purchase date of my first can. Trust was done in 24hours from the time I sent him the info.
    2. Everyone will need to sign in front of a notary.

      1. 199trust.com, you'll have your trust in 24 hours. They are currently $99
      2. Only the trustee and Co-trustees have to sign and get notarized. Basically anyone who is allowed to be in possession of the NFA items.

Can you modify a trust in the future to add children as they grow up?

Absolutely, you can also take someone off if need be.

                1. It varies but anywhere from 9 - 12 months if you paper file. With the e-file system it's about 4 - 5 months, that was when the system was up and running. Not sure when it will come back online.

                2. Depends on how your trust is written but usually only the trustee needs to sign it. The co-trustees I had listed on mine didn't have to sign.

I was talking to a ATF agent last week, he says wait time is going to be 2 years in the very near future! He laughed when I asked him about E file.... Not looking good....

I just got a SBR and suppressor last week. My paperwork went in on November 22, 2013... Actually, would have got the suppressor, but the ATF put the wrong serial numbers on my form. So we will see how much longer that mess up costs me.

He claims they are restructuring. Something about "ONE" person doing all the paperwork???

I think he is yanking yer chain.

They recently added 35 people to the NFA branch to help get caught up on the backlog. My dealer said he got a ton of paper forms back recently.

He is also a board meme r on the ASA so he definitely has inside info.

Getting the trust is the easy part. I would figure 12 months on anything you submit on and be happy if you get it faster.

As to who has to sign in front of the notary, anyone listed as a trustee has to sign. For example my wife & I are trustees, my kids are beneficiaries. My wife and I had to sign, my kids didn't even though some of the are 21 or older.
