    Kid keeps getting faster!

As recently as late February, when his team won the SE Regional SPP match, his first shot reaction times were regularly in the 0.6's, coming from low ready. Yesterday at the range it was all first shot training. He ran about 150 shots doing nothing but that. Imagine my surprise when he did this:

The steel plate in the background was the target. Paper plate sized white on a black background. I like to train on the big plates as it shows where the misses are and we can work on specific things to correct. By the end, virtually every shot was in the 3's, averaging 34-35 hundredths. That's with about a 60% hit rate. Next practice will be followup shots. He's got a pretty quick second shot already, it's getting the brain tuned to not moving the gun before verifying the hit that gets him. It's much quicker to stay on target for a couple hundredths than to have to stop the swing and come back to it. Of course ideally there are no misses.

All this in preparation for state competition coming up in 3 weeks down in Corpus, and National Championships in Sparta, Il in July.
