Anyone have experience with the Remington R1?

thinking about buying one to tote at the ranch(price is right).

    Likes or dislikes?

    Thanks!

I have no personal experience but a dealer I know said it will out perform the Ruger SR1911 and he is a big Ruger Fan. He shot them side by side and was very impressed and would highly recommend them and he sells both.

You get a lot more from the ruger for the same price. If you're into the classic style 1911 then it may be better but it doesn't have the beaver tail, match hammer, skeleton trigger, stainless, oversized saftey. I think the ruger is a lot better looking gun with a lot more features. My full size ruger out shoots my dad's colt national match gold cup. I've shot both and couldn't tell that much difference in accuracy but the ruger felt a lot better with the beaver tail saftey and I shot it better.

I just went through this and decided on a Kimber Custom II. Building a 460 rowland so i figured id step up to the Colt, Springfield, kimber class of 1911s. Great gun so far and 0 issues. Accurate as heck too

i ended up getting a Springfield stainless. Will drop in the beavertail for 75 more.

Unless it says Remington Rand, don't get a 1911 with remmy or ruger stamped on it unless she's a steal.

This is what you needed for your baseline...

Ruger or Springfield Springfield builds about the best for the money

I'll get bashed by the Taurus haters but.... Take a look at the Taurus 1911! Alot of bells and whistles for the cost. I have shot one of these several times and was very impressed!
