Our military are forcibly unarmed on their own base... one of the left's arguments is it wouldn't change the outcome if they were armed in an active shooter scenario.
3 dead, 16 wounded in recent Ft Hood shooting
Shooter at LAPD building shoots/injures 1 before the armed officers on site put an end to their situation. At least they had more options than to "shelter in place."

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- An officer was shot and injured Monday night when a man opened fire in the front desk area of a Los Angeles Police Department building in Mid-City, police said.
The incident occurred at about 8 p.m. at the LAPD Wilshire Division and West Traffic division office in the 4800 block of Venice Boulevard. The suspect walked into the lobby and told two officers manning the front desk "he had a complaint." Officials say he then opened fire.
The officers returned fire, striking the suspect. He was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in critical condition.
One of the officers was also hit seven times and taken to the hospital. He is expected to be OK. Authorities say he was likely saved by a bullet-proof vest.
