Figured this one would be fitting on this side of the ranch.....
Took my boys out today to shake out some new toys and upgrades. My 5 year old was handed down the Crickett 22lr that I bought on here a couple years back. He had a ball, and hit the target more often than not at 25yds. I'm a happy Dad! My oldest took the Glenfield model 25 out that I learned to shoot on. Long story short, my Dad brought some heirlooms down during the holiday visit-I cried when he handed it to me. Its going to the youngest boy since the oldest has his own 22. Anyways, its always shot well, and my boy kept it going-killing the 10ring with every single round of 22lr that I gave him-over 150rds worth. We all took turns on the AR that I did the CMC trigger upgrade on-that was worth every single penny. When you can stack Wolf brass 55gr FMJ in the same hole at 25yds, and feel the trigger break like glass, and the 3 of giggling at who can hit what on the target, life seems to slow down and be more enjoyable. Finally, to end it, I ran some assorted FMJ and JHP through my new Ruger SR1911 commander. It won its spot in the carry rotation. Zero feeding, ejecting or extracting issues. Both of the factory mags ran spot on, the Wilson 47D ran excellent, and so did the 7 and 8rd Cobra mags. Accuracy was good at 25yds-kept them all inside the 9 ring, with the gun liking the 230gr Hornady's especially well, leading that to be the carry ammo. It also shot the Federal Hydrshoks almost as well, leaving those to be secondary to buy if Hornady is not available. Overall, it was an enjoyable day, and left me with a pile of brass to start cleaning, so I can reload them for more range time with my boys.
