    AAC 51T and Suppressor help!

I am going to order a can...hopefully today. AAC 7.62 SDN6. However I am torn between a 51t flash hider or the brakeout.

I have read lots of different reports on the brakeout being loud and having a lot of flash but better with suppressor. But flash hider being better if shooting unsuppressed. I would love input from any of your suppressor guru's. I am new to all of this.

By the way this will be on my AR 6.8 SPC build that is in the works.

    Thanks
    Benjie

I have both flash hiders. The brakeout is unbelievably loud when shooting unsuppressed!!
Here's what I did that was recommended by AAC:

IF the barrel is going to be 16" or greater, the regular 51t flash hider is the way to go.
IF the barrel is going to be under 16" AND you will be shooting ONLY suppressed, I'd go with the brakeout. I was told by AAC if you are shooting AR pistol or sbr platforms (short barrel), they recommend the brakeout for the sole reason that the breakout will take the blunt of the unburned powder that gets tossed into your suppressor.

      Great information! Thank you

I will have a 16inch barrel so the flash hider seems like the way to go. Thanks for your help

        Pretty much what he said.

There are issues with the 51T system no matter which you use. I've had to have my suppressor serviced once already for issues inherent in this system. That is why they introduced the 90T for the big bore suppressors. Why they haven't gone to that with the smaller suppressors is beyond me.

            NAILED IT

with that said I went with the brakeout on both of my SBR and 16"+ so my suppressor wouldn't take the blunt of the powder. I'll take a loud unsuppressed gun over waiting another 10 months replacing a worn can...

What is life expectancy of a can? Brake or flash hider? I don't shoot a lot, but are we talking about 5000 rounds or much more I hope.

Life span could vary…Honestly I couldn't tell you...

What sold me was a picture I found on another form of breakout that had some good powder deterioration on the breakout. Without it you are only transferring that blast to your first baffle.

The break serves as a extra baffle and is suppose to extend the life of the can. On most of mine, I've gone with the breakout.

^^^ this.. On my 11.5 I went with the breakout for the sacrificial baffle theory.. Verrrrry loud up suppressed, but less muzzle rise. Regular flash hider on my 16, but has a distinct and long lasting "ping" when shot without the can..
