    Suppressor questions

I'm thinking about getting a suppressor. My main range guns are 22 LR, 22 mag, and 17 HMR, but will occasionally shoot the 223. I looked at the the Silencer shop and they have a lot of Rimfire cans to choose from. And a lot of good info on their site. I know nothing about suppressors. Anywhere from $ 200- 650. Alum, titanium, and probably other exotic stuff as well. Any suggestions on brand and model. Don't want to get the cheapest model, just don't know anything about them.

If I for one rated for the 223, how effective would it be for the rimfire rifles? Pretty sure I will go the Trust route. Seems to be the best way to get it done, and wait times look like 3-4 months.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Because of how dirty rimfire is you want a separate can from .223. I don't know of a rimfire can (easy to clean) that can handle .223.

Send the silencer shop guys an email, they have been very helpful for all my questions. The other thing you might try to find though I've yet to see is a 223 can that is user take apart to clean because as stated rimfire is DIRTY.

Just buy a 30 cal can for 308 or smaller works great for 223
And then buy a 22 rim fire can

If I get a 308 can ( I'll call it oversized), will it still be as quiet as a dedicated 223 can? That's a great idea though. Thanks.

An oversized can will not be as effective as a can dedicated for a particular round. It will have suppression, just not as effective DB reduction. Rim fire cans are built to be cleaned, I wouldn't buy a can designed for center fire cartridges to shoot rimfire through due to the dirty rimfire rounds. Best bet is to buy a can designed for the round you are going to shoot. Just FYI, I've been waiting since October for my SBR permit, so be prepared for a long wait to get your tax stamp.

I have a 308 rated can and it works perfectly on my 556 AR's. I've never had the chance to do a side by side comparison, but have heard from others first hand that the difference is quite minimal.

yup. I run my 7.62SDN-6 on my AR (223/5.56) all the time. Its hearing safe and a blast to shoot predators with.

I also have the SWR spectre II for my rimfire needs. it will handle all the ones you listed and I havent had a problem with mine.

I will eventually buy another 30 cal can... one rated for magnums (300 win mag) and such... Just havent decided on which one yet and if I want to pony up the dough.

Won't be worth the difference honestly.
Also with a 30 cal can u won't get blow back as bad in ur charging handle on a 223 AR

You definitely want a gas piston at for shooting a suppressor, unless you just like cleaning ar's.

The dedicated rimfire can makes sense. I can always get another one for centerfires later. I've got a plan now.....just need mo money!
