Keep it well oiled, it is probably 1:9 twist so run probably from 55 to 70 grain rounds in it and optics depend on what your intent is.

It is probably a 5.56 so you can safely run 5.56 or .223 in it.

I have one and love it. Just throw some magpul stuff on for aesthetic appeal and I'd say you're good to go.

you could go with something like a Vortex Strikefire or SPARC, the have a screw in magnifier.... I wouldn't call them cheap, far from it, I love my vortex sparc, great quality for your money IMO

yep...if it's summer time, move into a mix of grease / oil for the bolt maintenance. Range bag needs a dispensor for getting the oil into the bolt / gas rings. Same mobile 1 synthetic and frog lube oil work great. Just gotta find that needle oiler to make life easy.

Keep her wet & shoot the snot out of it...watch your 5.56 rounds and inspect your casings and excessive blowback gasses while shooting. It is much higher pressure round and (mostly) better suited for 1/7 twist tubes with some flavors. No on hand knowledge with the S&W myself.

good luck....best part is anything you do not like, you can change!!

Love my MP 15, but before we can help you out we need to know intend useage and does it have the front post integrated into the gas block or is it a flat top?

I bought a windam weaponry ar and put a Nikon monarch 3x12 on it. So far I've add a Midwest industries 7 oz rail and a sniper hog light on it.

You can't go wrong with either an Aimpoint or an Eotech. Run around $400 but you can count on it working every time and it'll last forever.

congrats! just finished a build myself....dress her up with what you can afford...if you are thinking of a red dot, try the Vortex Sparc, if you can spend a little more, go with the Aimpoint...T-1 are 550-600$, Aimpoint PRO (what I have) can be had for 380-400$
If its a scope you want...look at the Burris 1X4x24...270$, has an illuminated reticle also look at the Vortex PST 1X4X24 illuminated but is closer to 500$...enjoy

It all depends on what you are going to use it for. Target shooting/self defense style would be WAY different than setting it up for varmint hunting. I bought the same AR and mine is for varmint hunting. I put a 13.5" diamondhead free floated hand guard, replaced the A frame sight with a Troy Gas block, put a muzzle brake on it that i got from Jordan King (custom gun builder Kings Arsenal), replaced the crappy S&W butt stock with a magpul ACS stock, has a 3x9 Leupold scope on it and that set up is AWESOME for what i use it for. PM me your phone number and I'll send you a pic if you would like.
