    Scope ring questions

I have an older Ithaca rifle, to be exact lsa55 in 22-250. I am having a problem finding rings for it. The rifle does not have holes to mount a base. It currently has a really old set of tikka bases on it, but the new tikka bases won't fit. A 3-9-40 will fit but a friend gave me a decent 3-12-42 and won't fit. Just checking if anyone has any ideas on rings for this rifle. I'm hoping to find rings cheaper than a new scope....

How are the old bases mounted? Pictures will help.

Is it a 30mm mount you are trying to mount a 1" scope into, or vice versa?

If it's a 30mm, the 30mm tube is slightly larger than 1". You can buy spacers relatively cheap to go down to a 1" scope. You cannot, however, go the other way.

          Are they Sako rings?

1" rings 1" scope. The rings are marked tikka and there is no base, the rings mount directly to the rifle. I'll take pics in the afternoon some time.

Dustin I took it last week and David tried a few different rings and said he had no clue.... I may bring it to you some time.

From what I can find it might be easer to have it drilled and tapped for theses bases Weaver base #61.

I think those guns were built on a Tikka action and should take Sako/Tikka rings.

" Ithaca imported by Tikka of Finland LSA-65 long action rifle chambered in 30-06. 22" standard taper barrel, hooded front sight, adjustable rear. MFG 1969-77. Receiver will take Tikka/Sako standard mounts"

"Ithaca LSA-55 Deluxe Bolt Action Rifle Made in Finland by Tikka - .222 Remington Caliber - 22" Round Barrel made of Bofors Barrel Steel - Mauser Type Action with Sako Scope Mount Grooves on Receiver Top Side"

If the top of the action where the rings mount is shaped like the gun in the picture it takes the old style Sako rings.

That's what I've found but I have tried the sako/tikka rings and wouldn't work because they're dovetailed. Idk how to explain any better, but they're straight and not dovetailed.... I will post pics hopefully tomoro or Sunday.

The pic with rings is a comparison. The bigger one is the standard weaver rings. The weird looking in is the tikka rings. There is no notches in the ring or base.
