    Ambush 6.8

I was wanting the green screens opinion on the ambush 6.8. I've been looking into buying one for hogs and varmints. I've never shot one but have read good reviews. If anyone has anything positive or negative about them please let me know. Thanks

Negative would be ammo price from what little I looked.

      Great guns
Will be building a 6.8 spc myself

      Ammo runs 22-35$ a box

As far as using it for varmints a 115g bullet seems alittle over kill but I'm sure there's varying opinions on that

6.8 will be my next build. Originally I was skeptical myself, primarily due to ammo prices...but then realized its actually cheaper than .308 for equivalent grade ammo.

Here's Hornady for $17.99 box.....free shipping right now if you order more than $50... (not to mention no tax).

        Good luck!

I bought a 6.8spc when obummer got elected the first time and liked it so much I built one for my uncle a couple years ago. He's used nothing since, hog's, axis, coyotes and whitetails all dropped in their tracks or within 30yds.

          Great round IMO.

I have been researching these heavily. A 6.8 will be my next purchase as a build doesn't fit for me right now. I am intrigued by the Daniel Defense Rifles but I haven't been able to find one in 6.8 in the model I want. So I have looked at the Ambush as well. I like it, but it seems like it costs more with same features as the DDM4V7. Which is the model I want. Let us know if you purchase one and where you find it!

I can't say enough about my bison 6.8 upper. Definitely worth considering.

This deer was killed with a 6.8SPC. Try to buy the hotter ammo that is made for the SPCII chamber. The best is Silver State Tactical loads. Hornady loads down. Remington has some hotter loads.

They are great rifles with the right specs, but you can find the same quality cheaper by buying a bison or one of the builders that use ARPerformance barrels. DD is a little overpriced IMO. You are certainly paying for the name.

Ambush is the hunting line of Daniel Defense, so you shouldn't have any problems with the gun. I've handled one and the finish looked nice, but I haven't fired one.

Building your own rifle not only saves you money, it gives you the rifle that you really want. You can use a match barrel, NiBo BCG, adjustable low profile gas block, etc. for less than you can buy a ready made rifle without the extras. A minimum of tools are required, and parts are relatively cheap right now.

I used the Ambush 6.8 last year on a hunt and killed a hog and couple coyotes. Flat shooting bullet and of course very little recoil. The cool thing is that it's a very versatile caliber. Jake Arnsdorff is Daniel Defense/Ambush's national accounts manager and has hunted with us using the 6.8 on a number of different animals. Whitetail, axis, sika, and even a cow elk. Dropped most of them in their tracks. To my knowledge, you're basically shooting a .270 bullet so it still packs a punch. I'm not an expert but I had a great experience hunting with it and look forward to getting one. If you have questions on them I can put you in touch with Jake and he'd be happy to answer them. Best of luck.

I'm in Waco and just built my wife one with a 14.5" barrel and welded AAC QD for a suppressor. It's getting cerakoted right now, I can't wait to shoot it

I'll gladly help you any way I can
