How to store rifle long term?

What do yall do to store guns long term?

I have an old single shot breakopen shotgun. It has some rust on it and needed some work. I striped it down and bead blasted it. Still having function issues so i dont want to spend the time or money to get it fixed at the moment.

Anyways I dont want to just throw it in the safe since there is no finish on it. Let me hear some ideas.

    Thanks!

Cosmoline... If you have ever cleaned a gun with it you realize it allows ZERO rust or problems... but man its messy!

Some of the messiest stuff to get off. My Colt .45 was covered and wrapped in wax paper and cosmoline when I received it in 1972. The pistol was 1943 vintage had never been unwrapped and no rust at all. A mess to clean and had to replace the grips. Grips burned for 30 minutes. LOL

Years and years ago an old gun smith told me to apply Johnson's Paste Wax to the bluing and to the stock. It works. It will keep a gun from rusting, and you can't tell it's there. I've been using it on my guns for 30 years and it's been flawless. Doesn't make a mess of a gun either.

I keep all the guns that aren't go to in remington gun socks. They are supposed to stop moisture and whatnot... It works so far. College Station will be the true test.
