    Help me build an AR

Goal: Sub MOA .223/5.56 Varmint gun.

I have bought a stripped lower, a Kalifornica compliant lower parts kit (including the bullet button). A Timney 3# trigger and a Rock River stock.

Last on the list is the upper.

What I want is a flat top, 20-24 inch HB. Quad rails. My intention is scoped with a bi-pod and possibly a light or lazier.

Suggestions? One I was looking at was http://cbarms.com/asu063.html

Love to, but I'd have to do it without my wife (and I'm too old for that!)

I think the first question is...how much do you want to spend...lol these things can get out of hand quickly if you aren't careful. (not that I would know)

Sounds like you are wanting a SPR for tack driving varmint splattering. In that case, and if bidget isnt an issue, Take a solid look at Lothar, Satern,Krieger, lilja and Noveske if you want stupid accurate barrels. They ssssspensive, but are true tack drivers. Daniel defense, Wilson, bravo, white oak and the like should also produce MOA-<MOA for a little cheaper (and don't have to be 18in+)

Hand guard- totally your call. Find something that looks awesome and buy it. Larue, Daniel defense, gisselle automatics, Seekins etc. all get a big Knod.

If you want an already built upper. LWRC, Seekins, Bison, Bravo company, Noveske(drool), larue(double drool) are all solid choices

Never heard of Extreme tactical you listed in your post. The accuracy in an AR comes mainly from your barrel and trigger. The barrels listed in the above post are ones you should look for in a build or look for a complete upper from the same listed companies above. You probably also need to look into what weight ammo you are primarily going to shoot in the barrel to determine what twist rate you will want.

Thanks guys. That 20" LaRue upper is pretty sexy. I'm out the door to a gun show (my first in many years). I'll bring the iPad to research anything I see there but may just order that LaRue this afternoon.

You can't go wrong with Larue. They make really really nice stuff

I ordered the Larue. compleat upper but who knows when I'll get it. Seems people are having to wait up to a year or more.

I would NOT get a barrel over 20". Unless you hand load, the extra length will not help you, and will be a whole bunch of extra weight on the gun. Larue is good stuff, also might want to look at white oak armory if there is a huge waiting list for the larue.

Yup, I'm on month number 15 waiting for my Stealth upper.
I'm not in a hurry though

Well, I'm not in a hurry, I'm just impatient!

I'll keep my name on the list, but buy another without such a long wait. I plan on building two more anyway and maybe get one to switch off on my Colt HABAR Match. The other two are for my sons.

The lower is complete, I have the optics and mounts, Just need the complete upper. I'll look at some of your recommendations.

                            Thanks!

If you get tired of waiting on Larue, take a close look at Wilson Combat!

                              They're legit!

By the way, I waited nearly 20 months before my OBR hit my safe from Larue.
