    .300 Jarrett Initial run

Picked up the Jarrett yesterday from Wellingtontx and got the itch today. One adjustment on the Swarovski and she was ready to go. I was thinking about getting a new barrel as I hate muzzle brakes but I may reconsider. :-) I could also see about getting a thread saver and be done. She should be adequate for plains game as is.

Ooops. Just lost the gun as my boat sank on the way to the gun safe. Dang the luck. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted.

Dang it I wanted that gun. Looking back now I should have done it and sold the scope I already had.

Especially since you sold that high dollar rig of yours. :-) Still think of you everytime I see a .280 AI pops up somewhere.

I have had a couple should haves on here. I looked at this one for a couple days and talked myself into it even though I had no need for another .30 Then again, why in the world does the word "need" have to be part of the discussion. I still find it humorous that I have bought two of my best rifles on a bowhunting site (great .257 STW from TGridley and now this one).

Indeed! Funny thing is I have known the owner for years but did not know he was on here. It was pretty funny to get a call from him and have him say, "Man, you are going to love this gun." I didn't know what gun he was talking about! If I knew who I was dealing with I would have at least tried to haggle some.

It was a good buy from a great guy. Thanks. Thanks for the knowledge/posts on custom builds over the years as well!

I think she is a keeper, gentlemen! I may upgrade scopes to Z5 or Z6 at some point; however, think I will keep the gun. The action is awesome (aluminum), as is trigger etc. Heck, my wife even likes it.

the action is a milled piece of stainless steel that is fitted into an aluminum sleeve ... serves 2 purposes (1) rigidity and stiffness of steel, and (2) weight reduction with aluminum .... it's a benchrest action made to extreme tolerances. the SGY rings are custom milled from a solid bar of aluminum and weigh ounces

Be sure to grease the bolt lugs or they could gall if dirt , sand, and debris gets into the loading port area (PM me if you need any help)

pretty sure you have a Jewell bottom safety trigger which is what I run on 90% of my rifles

Thanks again for the wisdom. It indeed has the Jewell bottom safety trigger and is nice!
