Cut about 2" off of the stock and install a limbsaver recoil pad. Make him practice off of a lead sled. That gun will work over a 6 yr old! I learned a ton about fit and recoil teaching my girls.

Was waiting for this-- and I completely agree. I suggest adding one of those large rubber butt pads because that gun kicks like a mule.

I remember my first dove hunt in 6th grade, used that exact gun. I still remember how many times I shot that day (14) because by the end of it I wanted to quit. I can even remember shouldering that gun at the end of the afternoon but passing on the easiest birds of the day because It hurt so **** bad at that point.

Sorry to be such a Debbie Downer during such an exciting time. I am sure he will love the gun, just make sure to get that extra padding
