    School me on AR's.

I'm thinking about getting an AR, I've had a bushmaster before, played with it a little, but it sit in the safe most of the time so I sold it. I want to get another and start messing with them more. Will mostly be using this to plink around/ shoot targets and maybe varmint hunt with occasionally. What brands do I need to look at, and what ones should I avoid. Thanks abunch.

Rock river arms here too. No problem holding .75 group at 100 with factory ammo. I have built 2 so far and currently working another for the wife. They are a super simple platform. Any questions just ask.

I have four and none were expensive under 800$ each and all different models, some I built if you get a chance do it. They have all worked well for me but I just shoot for fun. Palmetto makes a good product for not a lot of money. I like mine. Just my $.02.

Not real sure on price. I want to get a good one, but want to add some stuff as I go. I don't want to buy one fully rigged and ready. Just wanting quality to start with and I'll add the "cool" factor stuff as I go. $1200-1500ish sound good for a starter?

This. You can spend 500 or 5000.. What are you looking to spend?

                    Edit... Just saw this:

Colt 6920 should fit your budget nicely. Gives you a solid base to add on to. Without breaking the bank.

Bcm is squarely in that price range . Between 12 and 15 colt, daniel defense and bcm are going to be your players. I don't think you can swing a lmt, lwrc, noveske of any kind for that money

Check GT Distributors for best prices. Colts were under $1k

Build it.... Match barrel. Good trigger. You can make it exactly what you want the first time instead of buying one and replacing each part as you go.
