    Gun trust question

Think this is bs? Want to start a trust but don't want to get hosed

I used texas law shield. Think it was $250 and had it done in 1 day.

I reasearched the "do it yourself trusts" and decided to have an attorney create mine. The price was not that much more. I decided to use an attorney for one reason: If something is not correct with the trust, then I have legal recourse to get it corrected. If you do it yourself and it doesn't pass muster with ATFE then you are hosed. The additional cost is a small price to pay for that piece of mind. Just my $0.02.

I had Chris Bass do mine for $300 - not something I wanted to cheap out on.

The guy who is building my cans does the trusts for his customers for free with the purchase of the first can. Its all legal and names who you want in the trust. I added my wife and my boys. Now they can have them as long as they are alive.

Cole Bryan off Hulen in Fort Worth

$250 and had it done in about 15 minutes. He's done numerous trusts for Silenced America customers as that's who directed me his way.

X2. Still need to get mine done. I'm thinking of buying a few under our LLC but would like to have a few under a trust as well.

How do you get hosed? All they do is kick it back if there is something missing from it which for most folks is usually the settlor directive of being able to take on Class III items from non SOT holder. (person to person/trust to trust.) I send off 10-15 a week......

Can an out of state attorney set one up for a Texas resident if they don't practice in Texas?

I used Jake Pelley in Sherman, tx. He is quick and thorough...plus he is a trust and tax lawyer so that makes me feel better.

He is very knowledgeable so call him up! 903-893-8177

The purpose of a gun trust is that the “trust” itself is the registered owner for NFA items such as suppressors, sbr’s or automatics…anything NFA related. Anyone listed in it as trustee may legally possess the NFA items.

For instance I have my wife and kids on my trust… if my son wants to take off to the deer lease with my suppresser without me; he can because he is listed in my trust…

If my neighbor wants to borrow it one weekend to use it he can’t…he is not on the trust.

Going the trust route allows you to go around requirements such as fingerprints, photos, and cleo signatures that the ATF requires for these NFA items.

The biggest advantage is the trust allows possession with multiple users only if they are listed in the trust…

                              Here is my take…

Sure you can download a trust from the internet or copy word for word your buddies approved trust; fill in the blanks submit it and have it approved.

However you are talking about some scary stuff that goes beyond my pay scale.

I would only trust a lawyer doing this for me to have my butt covered. Especially a lawyer that deals with Gun Trusts… $300~250 dollars is a drop in the bucket compared to jail time.
