Got my CHL renewal in the mail and...

for some reason the category was changed from SA to NSA. I called them this morning and they are issuing me a new license. Good ole gobm't doing there worst. I should get my new one in 10-15 days.

The woman I spoke with said that because of the new law taking effect September 1st, they should all say SA no matter what you qualify with.

You no longer have to qualify with a Semi-Auto to carry both SA or Revolver. You can shoot with a revolver and carry both.

Yep! And you don't have to take a renewal class either!

It already did. The laws go into effect the first of September following the state legislative session. They are held in odd years. The last one was 2013 and the next will be in 2015. All new laws from this most recent legislative session are already in effect.

          The basic changes are:

Class times changed to 4-6 hours

Can qualify with semi auto or revolver and carry both

          No renewal class.

I forgot about that one! A year too late for me, I renewed in 2012.

Very soon. We're trying to iron out the details and develop my presentation.

                It won't be long tho!

I'm digging the "no renewal class" part. I just did my application online and 6 weeks later I had my new permit.

Dps will mail you a notice 6 months before it expires. Once you get that you can renew.

I did my renewal Nov. 16, still shows waiting on background check. They best hurry up, mine expires in 3 weeks.
