    Recommendation for Ruger 10/22 Scope

After reading about better barrels for a 10/22/ I was thinking about what kind of scope to get.

Application would be plinking and small game hunting. Nothing tactical unless I run out out of 5.56

Thanks Mike. What makes this a good scope in your opinion?

Best bang for your buck IMO is the BSA Sweet series scopes. They can be had for under $120 and are made for rimfires

I have never considered BSA scopes. I will check them out. Thanks.

I have a Weaver 4-16 on mine. I think it was around $200. Very clear scope and tracks true.

Because I own a bunch of them.

But seriously, Leupold glass, warranty, customization options, their awesome alumina series flip covers are available for it, CDS dial included and focal range of 10 yards to infinity. Most rifle scopes have a fixed parallax at 100 yards which is great for high power center fired but not so much for rimfires. These have a 50 (or maybe 60) yard parallax and are designed specifically for rimfires.

Actually Timm the part number I meant to link you to is 114416.

If that is more than you were wanting to spend, look at the Redfield Revolution 2-7 x 33.

Im a fan of leupold as well... I like the 4-12x40 for the 22lr, thats whats on my 10/22. My 77/22 has a scope that doubles the price of the entire gun. lol Its a Mark AR 6-18x40 which is hella fun to shoot at distance .

I was running some lower magnification scopes (3-9x40) on my 22's for a while but decided to upgrade last summer, and havent looked back.

You need that much power because apparently you can't see!!

LOL... the prairie dogs got smart and stayed out of range of the 3-9... I doubled that power and started shooting dogs at distance My 4th mildot is 255 yards, then it gets a lil more interesting. Hits out to 350 yards take a little more shots down range, and a very good understanding of reading wind.

I guess I could dial for range and windage, with my current set up. but my shots often go from 55 to 175, back to 85 then out to 300 yards plus within a few rounds and that would be a lot of dialing and extra time. Holdover for both is quicker and accurate enough.

You can get as serious as you wanna be. shooting the 22LR at distance will hone your skills without breaking the bank
