CHL instructors.....

...Taking my class this week. Any tips or advice on what to expect? I can pass the shooting portion no problem. Should get a perfect score But what about the classroom portion? Any advice is GREATLY appreciated!

Just pay attention, the test is pretty easy and your instructor will probably highlight the test material.

and I believe for the shooting portion, if you hit the target on the 2 close stages you already passed the shooting part.

You will pass. Just pay attention and don't be late for class. Also of they say don't park there they mean it. Saw one students car get towed for parking in wrong spot.

I'll be coming an instructor. I've had my CHL for a while now.

It's not hard to get. You just have to be patient.


You'll need to be some sort of certified firearms instructor I went with (probably 90% of folks do too) with the NRA basic pistol course. (you're only other options are LEO instructor or Military instructor.)

It's a SUPER easy course you'll just burn a weekend. After that you can send in your application with the copy of your certification. Took me about 7-8 months to hear back from TX DPS after I sent my application in. I just got an email from them Thursday. The class I was going to be in was supposed to be in March but they also said in the email that they had a last minute opening for next week. So I jumped on it!

Also, you may want to hurry. I think they only hold instructor courses every other year...
