What's it worth? Kimber model 84 221 Fireball

New, but no box, unfired Kimber of Oregon model 84 221 Fireball serial no. FB 30x B. Classic stock, inletted swivels, mod 70 style safety. Gun is as pretty as the day it left the factory. Wonder what this thing is worth?

Kimber of Oregon with a 300 serial #. I don't think Kimber of America ever made a fireball. I'm thinking this gun was made in late 85 or possibly early 86.

Kimber of Oregon discontinued the manufacturer of this model in 1988...so you are probally correct in the age...value should be $875-$950...perhaps a touch more...lets say $1000 for round numbers...

If I didn't own 3 Coopers I'd be all over this

Gonna see if I can find some spare change underneath the couch cushions

After doing some research-and having a tad of Kimber of Oregon history-this is what I came up with:
$1,200 ---Base Kimber of Oregon model 84
                    200 --- Low "B" serial #
                    400 ---.221 Fireball
                    300 ---3 position safety
                    100 ---Inletted swivel studs
                    300 ---New/unfired w/no box
$2,500 Total so it should be at a minimum a $2,000 gun on GunBroker. I had 3 of the 84's-.221, 17 Mach 4, .222 Mag-back when they came out but never shot any of them. Regretted selling them ever since and had a bad craving for a Fireball to shoot. Lady luck smiled on me and I managed to horse trade into this one for about what a tuperware stocked model 700 goes for @ wallyworld. So, what would a normal person do with a unfired collector gun? Not sure but since the kiddo and I have never been considered normal we mounted a scope on that sucker, grabbed a box of factory ammo and headed out to the pasture to shoot. Let the kiddo do the shooting and after a few shots, with minor scope adjustments after each, he had it in the white. Not bad for the first group out of the gun.

The Classics and Cascades usually were pretty plain. Custom Classics, S grades, Super America's etc got the better wood. I think Master Dealer cost on the Classic model 84's was around $400 in 1986 if I remember correctly.

Love me some Coopers! Ironically this Kimber was built by the same workers that left Kimber and founded Cooper. Hard to say on the value but the Fireballs are one of the rarest 84's. Doesn't really matter cause the gun is not for sale-I'm hoping the kids and grandkids shoot that sucker enough through the years to wear the rifling down to a smoothbore. It'll make a good mate to my 16x serial hornet that they been shootin stuff with since they got big enough to pull the trigger.

Speaking of Cooper Firearms I find it ironic that Dan Cooper was forced out as CEO due to public outcry over him contributing to Obama's campaign. Obama got elected and sales of everything gun related went through the roof so maybe it was a brilliant move on his part-except for the being forced to resign thing.lol

While I do realize that it takes at least a 30-06 to kill a pig I figured I'd try the Fireball out on a nice sized sow that was about 225 yards out in the oat patch. DRT
