    Remington 770 bore sighted????

I'm taking my buddy and his son out for a doe hunt this weekend. He purchased his son a 770 in .270 for Christmas.

I just called him and asked if he took it to the range to sight it in? "No" was the answer. He said it was supposed to be GTG out of the box......

We can sight it in at the ranch if need be. I don't want him injuring a doe but are they sighted in out of the box.

    Thoughts???

No, they may come bore sighted but Remington won't sight them in. If it was sighted with a certain bullet, then the bullet he plans to shoot will almost never be in the same group.

I would think with all the variations of ammo, I wouldn't know how it could be. JMO!!!

            No.

Please take him to the range first, on the way, or have him shoot it at the lease.

Even if it is bore sighted its not ready to take hunting. Shoot to confirm zero. Then happy hunting.

Mine was the same, no way I would shoot at an animal without verifying that the gun is sighted in.

Have them sight it in and use it as a teaching tool.

Had one bore sited took it out and couldn't hit a 2'x4' piece of ply wood. Take it to the range.

First I apologize to the boy for getting a boat anchor given to him for christmas, second take that puppy to the range my money is one it barely being able to stay on a feed bag let alone hit a deer.

Don't listen to everybody else! It'll be good to go. No need to sight it in.

Gheeez, it is obvious he hasn't shot much before. Sounds like he will squeeze off a round smooth and not jerk one.

Regardless of what the box says. The son needs to put a few rounds down it to get a feel for his gun. If he is a first time hunter you don't want him to unfamiliar with the weapon as well as have one of thee most exciting heart pounding experiences of his life. Also I don't think the gun will be sighted in anymore than maybe on paper.
