We were doing qualifications at work and one of my co-workers was trying to qual with his backup/CCW and it just went "click" and not "bang". He cycled more rounds through it and it wouldn't fire. No primer strike whatsoever. He took the slide off, disassembled it and reassembled it, tried to fire it again and nothing.
The trigger was resetting and it sounded like it was functioning properly as he was dry firing it but I guess it wasn't.
I asked him when the last time it was that he shot it and he said at our last qualification, which was in June or July. I know it worked then because I shot it too. Mind you, he has been carrying this gun as a concealed carry weapon for the last 7 months or so while off duty
.....real scary!
I guess I bring this up just to say, be sure and check that your gun works if you're using/carrying it as a life saving tool and shoot it often. I know Kahrs have an excellent reputation, so I think my shock at the gun not going off was only matched or exceeded by his ghost white face and the realization he's been carrying around a paper weight for about 7 months. I really don't know how he could have known it wasn't working properly except to shoot it more often. Even then, you might go a couple of weeks or more between trips to the range and never know.
I believe it was the Kahr PM9 but I'll ask him to make sure. Has anyone heard of this happening with a Kahr?
