    Which Scope for .17HMR?

I am about to pull the trigger on a .17HMR and will be looking for a scope. I would imagine I don't need the absolute best due to the lower recoil over a high power caliber, and limited range, but am willing to spend a few bucks where needed. I'm leaning towards at least 12x and possibly up to 14x. Gun will be used to punch paper as well as shoot small varmints.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Brandon

BSA makes one that is really good specifically for the .17 that has the BDC built in for 17 gr bullets I think.

I have one of these on my 17 and don't need anything else.

          Vortex Diamondback 4-12x40 BDC reticle
Vortex Crossfire ll 6-18x44 AO BDC reticle

These are a couple of choices but we have many more options.

PM me for prices. I will get you fixed up for less $$$ and you will love the optics.

Check out the tactical 17 scope w/BDC that Cabelas offers. It's made for a 17 gr 17 hmr, and I think it's 18x and cost $99. Have it for 2 years now and very pleased

I have one and like it for what it's worth. The turret dials up to 300 yards which is way more than enough for the 17.

I bought the BSA Sweet .17 and I don't like it. I can't get it to focus properly and it's a pain to adjust. But once it all gets done, that thing sure is accurate, that I do like about it.
Rabbits don't stand a chance out to 150yrds, but I might upgrade here pretty soon.

I did some research on this particular scope and there seems to he no middle ground...people either love it or hate it.

Im not in the majority, i fairly often shoot my rimfire out to 500 yards, easily picking off bird size targets at long ranges. . My 77/17 wears a VX-2 4-12x40 lr reticle and my 77/22 wears a Mark AR 6-18x40 mil dot reticle.

My theory if if I'm going to spend time behind the gun, even if only for a short time, i might as well be looking through great glass.

So, to fully answer that question we need to know your price point, ranges, and usage.
