I'm running a Burris MTAC 1-4x24 on my .223 and a Nikon P-300 on my Blackout. There are several good scopes on the market for AR's depending on how you plan on using the rifle..good luck

I put a red field revolution 2-7x33 on my mini 14 and I love it. The clarity is very good at all power settings, it is brighter than my pro staff 3-9x40 and my p-223. On the few scopes I have had that were illuminated I found myself never using it.

After posting I read a long thread on ar-15.com about the burris tac30. I checked amazon and they only had one left for 234. I have had burris ff in the past with good success an I figure I will stay on 4x most of its life so any issues at 1x will be null. While I might have saved a few dollars getting an entry level 3-9 for the price and illumination it jus couldn't be beat. Online the weaver mentioned above got no love.

Another vote for the VX-R. I have the patrol 1.25-4 with the firedot spr illuminated reticle. Absolutely no complaints, especially at 1.25 power. I use mine with both eyes open, and looks as good as any red dot. JMO.
