Scope help on mossberg 715t .22

I bought a new mossberg 715t yesterday and am in the process of sighting it in this morning. Problem is is the scope (BSA 22 special) doesnt have enough up adjustment. At 50 yards i have to aim a foot and a half high to get it on paper and im out of adjustment. Do i need to get a new scope or should i break it all down and start again from scratch. I know the scope is not the best but it worked great on my browning takedown. Im just wondering if i need a new scope since the scope is mounted on the rail which makes it sit pretty high.

ps this thing shoots pretty good groups for a cheap gun

Probably start by taking it apart and putting back. If the rail can be reversed, try that. Be sure both rings are seated fully in the rail. Put the rings on the gun, then set the scope in the rings. If you have that much to go at 50 yards, a different scope wouldn't help.

Yes the rail will reverse. I will try that. I mounted rings first time then scope. Baffles me because one would think that mounting the scope higher would result in a higher shot but obviously not
