    Upper build parts list

Ok, after much shopping I have decided to take the plunge and build out an upper to go with my complete PSA lower. I want something that looks like this one but I want the fun of building it and the challenge of doing it for less $$. http://palmettostatearmory.com/index...ng-handle.html

Open to suggestions on components. This gun is just for fun but I'm hoping it will be reasonably accurate. Here is what I think I need:

-Stripped upper (found a good deal on a PSA)
    -forward assist kit
    -dust cover kit
    -Bolt carrier group
-barrel (.556 for this first time)
    -low profile gas block
    -flash hider
    -free float rail
-tool kit (this one good enough?) http://palmettostatearmory.com/index...it-atarak.html

What am I missing? What do I need to look out for?

The hand guard on the one you want to build it looks to be about a 200 hand guard. That is a heck of a deal on a complete upper. Building them is a lot of fun though. You also need to make sure you get the barrel nut to the correct torque. They make a special tool to do this.

Looks like you've got most of it covered, except for the gas tube. Depending on what free float rail you intend to go with, it may require a proprietary barrel nut. This is the rail that is on the upper you referenced: https://www.primaryarms.com/Yankee-H...hm-9633-dx.htm. It includes the barrel nut with it. You will however have to purchase the wrench to install the nut. That or use some good old TBH engineering! Don't forget that you will need some type of optics or iron sights. Good luck!

Yep Grabbed one and the aim sports tool kit which is a steal compared to other sites. My PSA stripped lower is also on the way. Now I'm gonna take a breather and watch for deals on barrels and rails. Heck, I may build this thing out nicer than I originally intended.

You missed a hell of a deal at AR-15.com on Black Friday. An AR-15 with your choice of handguard for $650.00. The whole enchilada.

FYI, Primary Arms is located in Pearland! It's a little drive for you but, it beats waiting on the Big Brown Truck. Enjoy the addiction!

False alarm lol. I scored a heck of a deal on that PSA upper. Shopped and shopped and just could not possibly come close to building it for what they were offering.
Well, guess I can still have fun accessorizing!

PSA had/has some awesome deals!!! I just bought a MagTac stripped lower and a Fortis REVO rail. Building is fun, but I don't think it saves much $$.....although the experience is priceless!!! Looks like you have pretty much everything on the list, except for what others have said....gas tube, charging handle, barrel nut, crush washer, etc........there is a lot of little things to keep in mind!!! I would suggest buying an upper with a dust cover and forward assist already installed.....there is nothing to gain by buying them separately.

Yeah, and once I took that entire list and put prices in a spreadsheet for every little part plus shipping it was $200 more than a complete upper from PSA. Not to mention the tools I'd have to buy for the build and the fact that in-stock barrels are few and far between right now.
