Want new rifle Remington vs Savage

I'm looking to buy another rifle in 7mm rem mag. I'm looking at the model 700 CDL SF and the savage 116 FHSS weather warrior. What are y'all's thoughts and opinions.

I say Remington because I'm biased. And don't care for savages at all. And I like that 700s are very common and any gun shop usually carries parts but it's really just personal preference.

Like said above they'll both do anything u ask

never owned a savage. my buddy just bought one and after shooting it with the accutrigger, I can safely say my next gun will be a savage

Judd I just bought a savage model 10 pred max and it is a sweet shooting gun! I was a die hard remmy fan but I like the savage really well. I next one will probably be a savage again.

Nothing wrong with a savage. I'm a Remington guy myself but savage puts out a good rifle.

Alot of folks say the accutrigger is amazing. It's decent, but shoot a timney and you'll never go back. Shoot a jewell and you'll look at the timney and laugh.

Remingron for beauty and to build on/customize later. For a gun to beat up and leave stock forever savage. I own both brands and that's how I decide for each savage is usually cheaper. Uglier. And shoots just as good or better. I do like the accutrrigger over the new x triggers in remingtons. Old remingron triggers can be smoother than the accutrigger though.

I have a 7 mag in the Rem CDLSF that is like new that I never use. I seem to pick up one of the other dozens of rifles available when I head out on a hunt. If you decide to go that route, check with me as I may let it go.

I own a weather warroir of sorts (Cabelas special run .308 w/ fluted barrel) and really like the 3 position safety the savage offers.

On the other hand the remmy you are looking at is an amazingly good looking rifle.

Are you after a lifetime ownership gun (remmy) or a beat up I'm gonna hunt with it gun (savage).

I'm not saying either can't do both, but I would feel a twinge of sorrow if I scuffed up the stock on that CDL.

My weather warrior does have some bangs and nicks, but it wasn't winning a beauty contest anyways.

Hard choice, you'll be happy either way.

One thing to consider in the 7mag- savage offers weather warriors with muzzle breaks you can turn on or off- this would reduce the kick that round will offer by a good bit.
I have one on a Savage .308 pistol and yes it makes the gun LOUD, but helps tame the kick.

I've always been a Remington man myself but since the buy out I've been hearing a lot of really bad things about the craftsmanship of their guns. Not what it used to be.

I own both...my Savage 10 FCP is the most accurate gun I own, hands down.
