    Glad I made the switch....

A month or two ago I posted a thread about switching from .40 to 9mm.

Well, I pulled the trigger so to speak and bought a 9mm.

I'm an LEO and carried a .40 for many years. A little over a year ago I started noticing that I wasn't shooting like I used to during training and qualifications with my Glock 22c.

We had a training shoot before qualifications last week and I had a new Glock 17. All I can says is wow My confidence is sky high again.

Thanks to all who commented, helping me to make a decision that I'm very happy with

The biggest thing wrong with the 9mm is ego.

Some people's gets bigger with the caliber of their handgun.

There's a reason why the military is getting away from the 9mm. When I was in the Marines, the M9 was pretty accurate weapon. We shot them on our shooting teams. However, the battle results from the 9mm prove less than stellar, thus leading the Marine Corps to seek other caliber options, particularly the .45.

I haven't seen anything about the military moving away from the 9mm. Only certain ops groups are using other calibers.

I get sick of this debate .... Shoot what you feel comfortable shooting, and shoot it well!

                  Here u go:

olt Defense, based in Hartford, Conn., will supply as many as 12,000 of the 200,000 U.S. Marines with semi-automatic, tan-colored M45 Close Quarter Battle Pistols, and they will include spare parts and logistical support. The gun has long been the weapon of choice for special operations agents, thanks to its reliability and the stopping power of its massive bullets.

"I'm really glad that they're keeping it in the American economy," Lewis, who used the gun while he was in the armed forces, said. "I was quite upset when they went to the Beretta," Lewis said.

Some reports suggest Marines are not happy with their main Beretta M9s for their lack of accuracy and stopping power. With M1911's now supplying Special Ops, growing interest may lead to a better solution.

"To have the 1911 selected again for U. S. Forces 101 years after its initial introduction is just an incredible testament to the timeless design and effectiveness of the Colt 1911," Dinkel said. "This is truly a gratifying contract award."

You have to consider the military can only use ball ammo and not hollow points.

                    That makes a HUGE difference

Contracts are not always made with the best interest of everyone. The person supplying the 1911 may have rubbed elbows with the right folks to get his "sale". Its politics.... when has politics ever been based on facts? Information provided by media, again not always fact related....

Anyhow, love me some nine. Dont care for the price, weight, or recoil/blast from a 45. Guess I am getting old.
