    ADL vs BDL

I was just wondering what they stand for and whats the difference?

ADL has a blind magazine. Used to be the low-end model
BDL has a magazine with a floorplate
CDL is the BDL with better wood, clastic stock
CDL DM has a detatchable magazine
CDL SF has a stainless action and fluted barrel
SPS is like an ADL but with a floorplate and I believe a synthetic stock (SPS = Special Purpose Synthetic) Some SPS do have a laminated stock
XCR is the eXtreme Conditions Rifle
    VLS - varmint laminate stock
VSSF - varmint synthetic stainless fluted

I doubt it's true, but I was once told they all start out on the same assembly line and the guns with tighter finished tolerances end up as BDL's and CDL's, those without end up as ADL's.

It makes for a nice story, but I'm not sure of its validity.

Good news is they're all a Remington 700 action and can be interchanged as your use or budget allows. Some new bottom metal and smithing can turn a run of the mill ADL to anything you want.

I'm going to say negative to this.

Remington has been making a run of ADL Varmint rifles for Cabelas. They are the SPS Varmint gun but without floorplate. Same exact stock except its solid on the bottom. This spring I got on in .308 for $399.

Not true. There made in batches. Serial numbers and model options are assigned before production ever begins. The only deference is for the custom shop.

Good deal, now I know. Good thing I never repeated that story as fact.
