    Need help wit 1911 problem

I have a new 1911 sub compact that for the first 150 rounds ran flawlessly. Then it started not ejecting the first round and jamming the second up against the empty casing still in the chamber. Once cleared it cycles the rest of the magazine with no problem. My trusted gunsmith is 2 hours away. I could send it back to the factory, but they don't tell you what the problem was. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I'm no gunsmith but the sub 1911s had these problems because of the recoil spring. I think the spring was too small to handle the force but once replaced by newer ones designed for the subs the problem went away. I do remember reading about this exact same thing from other sub 1911 owners on the internet.

My 1911 is not a sub but after about 100 rounds I have the same issues with jamming and not feeding. A deep cleaning always remedies the problem for me. I even take the mags apart and clean them as well.

Its been cleaned really well. And yes it does this with different mags. My nieces did the same thing straight out of the box and we had to send it back to the factory. Once we got it back it has run great, that's how I know they won't tell you what the problem was. They had a note saying "it was cleaned and tuned". I had cleaned it well before she ever tried shooting it, maybe I don't know how to clean a 1911, but this is not the first one I ever owned.

That's why I tell people to never buy the 3" 1911s. they just don't work. Commander size is as small as I'll go but I'd never touch a 3" if you paid me.

Sorry you had to find out the hard way.

sub compact 1911's are known to be finicky and why I would never have one as a primary defense weapon...the officers model is the smallest I would use & not until well broken in and confidence is built in.

To me the commander size is the best for combo of reliability and size.

Anyway, you need to keep all 1911's wet & well lubed, just like AR's...this may not be the cure for your particular sub compacts problems, but should be noted.

                  good luck...

Is it doing it with just one kind of ammo?
I had some wad cutters do that in my pistol. Never shot them again.

You might check Wolff gunsprings to see if they offer a spring kit for your pistol. i replaced the ones in my Kimber and it made a world of difference.

Thanks for the info everyone! It only does it on the first round fired from the magazine. It runs the rest just fine and like I stated the first 150 rounds were flawless. And it is lubed well, in fact I thought it might have been to the excess. Thanks again!

Are you loading your mags to full capacity amigo?? This is a no-no for compact 1911's and AR's in general as well...all your AR mags should max minus two (30 rounders only get 28 bullets and your 20's should be loaded with 18).

Compact 1911's should be loaded max, minus one round....if it's happening on the first round fired regardless of # rounds in mags with various ammo, sell it and get a more reliable weapon.

                              I have a 3.5 inch para p12 that is 100% reliable thru 500 rounds...
clean it good and try a new mag. Mags have caused most issues with my other 1911's
