    Leupold vx-r/6 vs....

Really having a hard time picking a 1-4/6. Ideally i'd pick up a vx-6 as i would like the extra power and a "true" 1x (and apparent better glass) but to be honest i am not a fan of the spr (or any of the others for that matter) reticle available on either of the leupold offerings in my price range. It HAS to be daylight bright which seems to be a concern on the viper pst and really most of the other offerings in the 4-500 dollar range. Vortex razor and mark 4 are out of the price range so i'm kind of in a pickle. Really i could go with the #4 reticle in the vx6 and be fine. To be honest I probably won't be ranging with it and the standard 50 yard zero will suit me fine but i just can't help but feel i'm getting sold short in my price range by not getting everything i want and if that's the case i'd rather save a few hundred and get the vx-r/pst. Thoughts? Mike D I know you have/had the pst. Thinking about scrapping the whole thought and getting an aimpiont .

Leupold hog hunter or the Burris MTAC? Both are good scopes, but it seems like you would be happy to save a bit more and get what you really want.... A buddy of mine just picked up the 1-6 leupold VX6. He is going to send it in and have leupold switch the turrets and reticle. I just put a 1.5-5 mark 4 on my latest build. I was worried about not having the true 1x but it seems ok so far. Why don't you like the SPR reticle?

Not sure. I will ask him. He is getting it setup for his M&P 10.

I heard Vortex had some good scopes, I am happy with a red dot I bought, but was very impress with their Customer Service. I was going to check out thei scope line when I am ready to buy

Last time I checked about 3 months ago Leupold wasn't offering any reticle/turret mods for the VX-6 yet.

My PST is ok but I get scope flare from time to time.

All ears on this. In the early days of the vx6 the spr was a special order type of deal from Leupold. I hope they're offering something else to him but that may be what he's referring to. As to why I don't like it I just don't see the point. Im not sure what 2.5 mil hashes offer the shooter. Plain mills, moa or even a bdc of some type seem a lot more practical. Feels to me like they just kinda threw it in the mix in an attempt to offer some tacticaly.
