First Gun?

My 4 yr old shoots the 10/22 tactical very well. It's something he can grow into. It fits him perfectly With the stock collapsed all the way.

An old glenfield 22. With the squirrel on the stock. My dad would pull the tube out of the gun and give me a handful of shells and make me load one at a time.

I'm would suggest teaching your kid on a single shot gun. Once they show some wisdom, knowledge, skill, etc then buy them their first gun. To me, I would think after learning the basics on your single shot, you buy them a 10/22. My first gun was a single shot shotgun. It is a safe queen. Would have much rather had something I would still use.
