    Long Range Cal

Been looking at getting a longer range caliber rifle. Smaller round than a .338lapua. any suggestions? i keep leaning toward the 7mm rem mag and 300win mag.

I'd def go with a 7mm ultra mag, out performs the 300 win and the 308

400+ would be ideal. i have a 7mm-08, 300blackout, and a 270...want something that will let me reach out a little further

I would go with the 300WinMag for large animals.

7mm08 or 22 250 if you are hunting little guys.

The 300 has good energy at its terminal ranges.

You need to detail a lot more info than " I want a longer range rifle".

Start by answering this quote.... then proceed to what your intended uses are, shoiting style, paper punching, budget, thoughts on scopes... then a few ppl can give you a more solid answer.

You got about 10 people on this forum that can give you very good advice, the other 99% will start throwing out a list of calibers only good info if you want a list of calibers...

Do you reload? Big kicker in the equation.

400 yds is a chipshot for the big rounds. i wouldnt go much over a 308 or 30-06

Not too worried about money...hunting and paper bunching...as far as the scope goes that will be the next venture after i decide on caliber.

Not at this time. Although can have a gunsmith buddy load me some rounds when i need.

For 400 yards and factory ammo a 7mm08 or a 260 would be a great choice for deer and targets. As stated above, a 300 win or similar is a little overkill (coming from a 300 win mag lover ).
