    Need Advice on reloading 12ga

I am new to reloading and looking for advice on what primers, shot and wades ya'll prefer?!?!

My favorite load from the store is the Winchester AA 1 1/8oz, 3dr, 9 shot.

    I just bought a MEC9000GH.

Winchester 209. AA wads. Whatever shot is the cheapest in the size I want.

I figured up the cost to do shot shells and its around 7.50 a box. So I'm just not putting in the time when I can buy it for 7.90 a box or less.

Are you figuring it with the price of hulls and re-claimed shot. I know a couple of places that just trash nitro 27 and AA hulls. That can make a huge difference. I figure it to be about 4.90 a box.

I load whatever high brass hulls I can scrounge. Primer, wad, shot? Whatever is cheapest, usually. I have yet to see any obvious difference between cheap and expensive reloading components for a shotgun, besides using high brass to get another reload or two out of them. I'm loading for way under $4/box.

Reloading rifle and pistol cartridges, completely different ballgame.

Good luck, and have fun. You'll be addicted in no time.

Try to find a winchester reloading manual and you should be able to pretty well duplicate a load for the AAs. I haven't messed with my loader in a few years and can't remember which Winchester powder I was using. I always liked AA hulls preferably the super sport silver hulls. I could always load them a few more times than the red ones. I like Winchester wads. I never could tell any difference in primers so I'd go with whatever you can find. I always used 8 shot just to get a few more in each shell. Late in the season when the birds aren't coming as close you may want 7.5 or 6 shot.
