    Savage B Mag review

I read a thread on here last night about this rifle. A few folks were bashing it for it's looks and feel and cost, although they never fired it , tested it or owned it. I guess this is why the thread is gone this morning. I was going to give you a review on that thread but not without data.

I bought the first rifle that the Katy Academy had on the shelf. I had just read an article in the American Rifleman about it the night before and decided to try it if I found one. They are new and scarce but are becoming more available . I bought the rifle and the only two boxes of ammo they had. Academy and Basspro have been getting shipments of the ammo on a regular basis now. I have a thousand rounds to test with now.

It has a plastic cheap looking stock, but mine fits properly. The free floating barrel does not touch it.It is very light. It has a rotary detachable magazine that holds 8 rounds. Of course it has the Savage Accutrigger factory set at 2 pounds thirteen ounces, adjustable down to 2 pounds if you wish.

It is touted as the fastest rimfire made at over 3000 fps. I just shot through my chronograph and they are right. It has two bullet offerings from Winchester,20 grain and 25 grain.
The 20 grain Varmint HV 5 shot string had a high of 3023 fps and a low of 2996 fps for an average of 3009 fps .
The 25 grain Varmint HE 5 shot string had a high of 2672 fps ,a low of 2614 fps and the average of 2645 fps .

I have shot it at only 100 yards to date ,but it stacks the bullets on top of each other .
The action is stiff on closing because savage designed it to cock on closing. It takes a little effort to close it more than you might be used to. I have found no reason to bash this gun. I got what I paid for, an accurate ,cheap , fun rifle I don't mind getting dirty, banged up , or scratched.

Awesome review! I started the other thread and have not checked it in a couple days. I guess it got ugly! Lol Seems to me that the accuracy issues may be due to some stocks not fitting properly. Glad yours is a shooter and I can't wait to check one out. If you don't mind me asking what is the going rate at academy? Thanks

So if someone looks at a rifle they want to purchase and then decide they don't like the way it's made, tells others their perception of the rifle, they are bashing it?

          Here's the thread that "disappeared".
