    Any Sako fans?

I am a degenerate Weatherby junkie, but there is a Sako 85 in 270 win that has its hooks into me. I've never owned, shot, or handled a Sako, and the $1800 price tag is a wee bit...crazy expensive! That and going with a 270 just seems like shamelessly giving the bird to my faithful 30-06. Still, a 110 grain TTSX at 3300fps oughta be plenty effective seeing as how a peewee 100gr @ 3000 in my 243 kills deer like they've been hit by lightning.

So, first, are these rifles really that much nicer and that much more accurate, or is the price partially due to import costs or other factors?

My last Mark V Deluxe purchase was a 270Wby for $900. This Sako would be twice that. Not sure I can see the value, but that hasn't stopped me before.

For that kind of price you could get a really nice browning with an 800.00 scope. I haven't seen a browning yet that wasn't a shooter and they have a smooth action. I have heard really good things about the tika rifles too and you could possibly pick up a cooper rifle for 1800.00. So it would be hard for me to pay that much for a rifle just because it has sako stamped on the side of it. Just my .02

I bought a A7 with fluted barrel last year for about 1100 dollars in 308. Frigging shoots lights out. I also onece owned a Tikka T3 in 22-2250 and still regret selling it. I shot a bird once at about 225 yards and all you saw in the scope was feathers flying in the wind. But since I was able offered $350 more than I paid for it, I took it.

I picked up a Sako 85 one time for $750 brand new and it was an AWESOME rifle. Super slick action. I sold me shortly after because I primarily purchased to resell.

I think they are great rifles. Last rifle purchase I went with a cooper. About same money.

I just watched a documentary on Sako. During the factory tour the Sako engineer stated that Sako uses the exact same barrel in the Tikka line as the they do in the Sako 85 line. That's about $1300 worth of wood and action difference.

There's no doubt they are nice but in that price range I have decided to go with Cooper.

I had a friend that owned both and he shot the SAKO more than the weatherby. I shot the SAKO and it was a sweet shooting rifle. Handled differently than the browning A bolt I had too. Very slick rifle.

Take a look at the Sauer 101, great trigger and guaranteed to place a 5 shot MOA group with factory ammo.

I own a Sako forester in .243. BEAUTIFUL rifle. And one sweet shooter. 100 gr Sierra pro hunter five shot group @ 100 yds I can cover with a dime. If I could come up with cash I'd buy another in heart beat.

Cycle the bolt and pull the trigger, you'll see what all the fuss is about Sako makes an awesome rifle. I've been wanting one of the Cabelas Big Game rifles in .30-06.....I believe its the same one Kewl Deals is talking about. It comes with a fluted stainless barrel and a Bell and Carlson Medalist for around $1100.

I have an old Sako Finbear. I bought it used. Best rifle I've ever shot. 7MM Rem Mag. It's now killed in New Zealand and Africa. I wouldn't take anything else.
