Is it for a set screw?

Right handed shooter, muzzle goes up and to the right. A lot of breaks have extra hole on the right side to keep the muzzle centered.

so you can pin and weld it.

Sorry I just zoomed in on the picture. Didn't realize it was on the threads. Is the little hole threaded? Could be a set screw so you dont have to use timing shims.

              Little hole is not threaded

That's what I thought at first but it's placed so far forward I didn't think that was the reason

From JP's website, with a picture that looks identical to yours with the drilled hole, here:

Right- or Left-hand Biasing: JP Compensators are shipped in the “neutral” configuration. However, by drilling a port on the right or left hand side of the flat area just ahead of the muzzle, the comp can be given a thrust bias into the support hand which makes the overall impulse of the rifle more linear for off hand, kneeling or any position shooting other than prone off bipod. For example, if you are right handed, drill a 3/16” hole on the right side in the flat area just ahead of the muzzle, behind the first expansion chamber.
                All the best,
                Glenn

Not sure if like that. Might get use to it and then have trouble shooting without it

im confused by this, how would drilling a hole through the threads give you a bias?

I am not really sure that it will function as a muzzle break the way it is designed.

It may be just for looks. Good or bad depends on you.

When installed, the drilled hole isn't blocked by the barrel, just checked

so the first gas port is in the SIDE of the brake ?

seems like that would/could/should effect accuracy, eh ?
