I carried a Glock 27 in slacks in an ankle holster for an off duty job where as I was posing as an employee there. On a scale from 1-10, the suck factor on a Glock 27 in an ankle holster is a 9. I too was sitting down the whole time except for bathroom breaks and lunch, I wouldn't do it again with that holster and that gun. It would be even worse with a full size G22. It flops everywhere because of the weight and thickness of the gun. A Kahr/Ruger/SigP238 would be much better in an ankle holster or a pocket holster IMO.
Would it fit inside a boot? And if so would that help the "flop factor"?
I set in meetings all this week thinking man if my gun was in my boot it wouldn't be clunking this plastic chair everytime I set down... Just a thought I had by Friday...
I'm not opposed to buying a smaller gun. I like new guns.
Was more wondering about yalls dealings with the ankle holster... Than the gun choice.
There's no way I could get that G27 to fit inside my boots but theoretically it would help with the flop factor. A smaller gun is your best bet IMO. Even though the 26/27 is a "compact", its probably the biggest compact in that category. The width and weight make it impractical.
I put it on in my apt and did a "test run" where I ran or walked fast to get to the bad guy , it felt like that sucker was gonna fly off my ankle any second, even though it wasn't. And it hurt and began to rub my ankle raw after day 2 (I was there a week).
I'm sure someone on here has a better ankle option, maybe Tuffbroadhead.
