    Galco Ankle Holster

    Anybody have one?

Anybody want to get rid of one for a 1911 or g22?

What say the brain trust about them?

I thought Chuck Norris was the only one who could wear a 1911 on his ankle!

        Wait a second.......

You intend to carry a 1911 or a G22 on your ankle! How big are you???

        I can maybe see a officers sized 1911 but a G22! Seriously??

More power to ya brother! If you don't already you'll have some strong legs. Or at least one strong leg

Lol... It would be for dress slacks setting in meetings all day... Maybe inside a boot if it fits... Lots of setting not walking.

If im walking around im in coaching attire... And then my ankle would be exposed.

So again... Any body ever use one? Or have one they want to get rid of?

I carried a Glock 27 in slacks in an ankle holster for an off duty job where as I was posing as an employee there. On a scale from 1-10, the suck factor on a Glock 27 in an ankle holster is a 9. I too was sitting down the whole time except for bathroom breaks and lunch, I wouldn't do it again with that holster and that gun. It would be even worse with a full size G22. It flops everywhere because of the weight and thickness of the gun. A Kahr/Ruger/SigP238 would be much better in an ankle holster or a pocket holster IMO.

Would it fit inside a boot? And if so would that help the "flop factor"?

I set in meetings all this week thinking man if my gun was in my boot it wouldn't be clunking this plastic chair everytime I set down... Just a thought I had by Friday...

I'm not opposed to buying a smaller gun. I like new guns.

Was more wondering about yalls dealings with the ankle holster... Than the gun choice.

There's no way I could get that G27 to fit inside my boots but theoretically it would help with the flop factor. A smaller gun is your best bet IMO. Even though the 26/27 is a "compact", its probably the biggest compact in that category. The width and weight make it impractical.

I put it on in my apt and did a "test run" where I ran or walked fast to get to the bad guy , it felt like that sucker was gonna fly off my ankle any second, even though it wasn't. And it hurt and began to rub my ankle raw after day 2 (I was there a week).

I'm sure someone on here has a better ankle option, maybe Tuffbroadhead.

I'd stay with a synthetic holster and possibly an air weight J-frame. Find one with good, wide securement and moderately padded.

Wear it on the inside of you offside leg, eg., right handed wears on the inside of left ankle.

Don't forget a speed strip in your pocket.

I use one all the time. I generally have my 27 in it but on occasion have also put the 22 in as well.

                      I would recommend it.
