    Sporting clays???

I am going to be participating in a charity sporting clays shoot on Saturday and I have a few questions.
I have never been to a shoot and don't really know what to expect. I will be using a 12ga. 870. Which choke should work best? F, M, IC?

What ammo do you prefer? Remington heavy dove 7.5?

    Any tips???

If it is a charity shooty the targets will more likely be easier. the course designers usually soften the course up to make it easier on folks who dont shoot as much. You should be fine shooting IC and as said above 8 shots fine.

Take both your IC and Modified choke depending on the target presentations and distances. 8's are perfect for the usual round. Big tip that I told people when I was teaching was not to point your gun at the trap or where the target first comes from. This can cause your gun to already start behind the target and then you panic to catch up to the target and shoot. Also have your front foot pointed at the place you want to break the target instead of where the target is coming from. Good luck and have fun!! I miss Sporting Clays a lot.

I'd take all chokes, but IC and M will probably be what you want to use. 7.5 or 8's will be fine.

Get the cheapest 1 oz loads & you will be good to go. IC or skeet choke will do you on most SC charity courses.

Modified with 7.5 or 8. I did it last year. There where guys with $5000+ shotguns, vests, gloves, chokes for every station.
Then there was me...None of the above and a trusty ole 870 shotgun...I shot 94 out of 100. Dont put too much science into it. Take what you have and go shoot and have fun.

Most seem to prefer skeet.. But looks like you don't have it..

As said, keep it simple. Whatever you shoot dubs with will work for 95% of the stations. I did a charity shoot earlier this year, there was one station that seemed like it needed a turkey choke and 6's! You didn't see the two targets (springing teal) until they cleared the treetops, big pines that were 30 yards away. So by the time you reacted and pulled the trigger, the target was 50 yards away it seemed.
