IMR 4064 or Varget for 308

About to start load development for my Model 70 308 20". What powder would start with? I am going to use any where from 150-165g.

I've had great luck with Varget in several different rounds including 308. Never loaded 4046. I've also had good luck with IMR4350 and 4895 in 308. I'd have to start with Varget since its so versatile. If it doesn't work in 308, use it for something else.

Don't use Varget, it sucks, just send all your Varget to me and I'll dispose of it for you. No seriously, Varget is good stuff, and it's my go to powder in all calibers that it works with. Probably why it's so scarce right now, everybody is using it for everything.

IMR 4064 is also terrible, if you have already bought it just send to me and let me know where you bought it so I can save everyone else too! I have worked up some great loads with it for my 308.

I've been looking for varget for a month now, I ended up finding 4064 this weekend so that's what I am going with for my first loads of .308, 4064 and Nosler 150 gr ballistic tips. Also have a 250 pack of 168 gr AMAX on the way!

I use to use IMR as a "Go To" powder for my 308 until I switched to Win 748 ... Tighter groups and just ast much FPS. Every gun will have its preference but 1 combination will shine above the rest.

I use IMR4064 for my .308 with Sierra GameKing 150 grainers. I have produced several one-hole groups @ 100 yards with it. I use 44 grains. I do prefer Varget for my .223. 24.1 grains give me the same type of groups as above with 64 gr Sierra GameKings.

                        Good luck!

Them 168gr Amax bullets are worthless too. Might as well send those my way too, I'm starting a worthless ammo disposal company, but I'll provide my services to you for free.

Ill send you all my Titegroup, Varget, Retumbo, 4350 and 4895.....while I'm at it, I have a ton of those junky Berger and Nosler bullets and a few thousand primers that probably suck too. Those two Dillon presses hang up every 20,000 rounds or so.....better get rid of those too.

I guesss since all I have is just junk (Varget/168g or 155g Amax/CCI BR-2 primers and Laupa/Hornady Match brass) I need to put it in the mail and send it your way
