The PPQ is a striker fired, polymer frame full size pistol from Walther. It replaces the P99 which never really took off.

The grip is very ergonomic with 3 sizes of replaceable back straps to custom fit the pistol to the shooter. It comes with the medium back strap installed. I have smallish hands so I installed the smaller grip. I will shoot it will all of them to figure out what suits me best.

Sights are white 3-dot and adjustable for windage. It comes with 2 15rd magazines, the normal accessory rail, ambi slide release and reversible mag release. It's truly an ambi pistol that will appeal to lefties. The PPQ is also available in 40 S&W. No manual safety.

Now the best part, the trigger. This is the best striker fired trigger hands down. Walther says its 5.5lbs but it feels lighter. There's no gritty feeling, just a short very light take up then a crisp clean break.

I didn't get home late this evening so I only ran 30rds through it very quickly to check function. It functioned flawlessly. I will put some more rounds through it later this week and add to this review.

Ok, 100rds in now. These were mixed PPU, Tul and Monarch.....I know, the good stuff Zero malfunctions to date.

I'll start with the statement that I am not a bullseye shooter, never have been, don't claim to be. I'm a competitive shooter(USPSA Limited B). Combat accuracy is all I'm concerned with.

Here are a couple of groups I fired mixing all three rounds in mags.

10yds off hand at a moderate firing pace.

3yd mag dump as fast as I could get the sights in the relative area of the bull.

I could put it on sandbags and drag out the good stash to see what it's true accuracy is....but I don't need to know that. It has already proven that its accurate enough for my needs.

The pistol breaks down similarly to a Glock/XD/Sig/M&P into basic components.

It has a captured flat recoil spring like a Glock and its a heavy recoil spring. I'd like to try one a couple pounds lighter.

My only complaint of this pistol is how high the bore is above your grip. This makes the pistol very snappy. This is by no means a deal breaker for me but it was noticeable.

That round spot on the back of the slide is center bore.

All in all, I like this pistol. The trigger is incredible compared to Glock or M&P and still better than the XD which I considered the best of the three previously mentioned.

If you are in the market for a "fantastic plastic", take a look at this one before you buy.

I'll keep shooting and report any issues down the road.

Extra magazines for the PPQ are hard to find and they are about $50 each when you find them. There are claims that the Baby Eagle MR series mags will fit the PPQ and are about $28 each. After alot of researching, I found these mags will fit the older PPQ M1 with the ambi mag release. They don't fit the M2 with the reversible mag release. Off to search for extra mags.

You could probably cut a hole for the release on the other side and get them to work, as long as the holes are in the same spot on the M1 and M2. I don't know if they are or not. I found a mag for about $40 in the local gun shop once. Bought it.

Shane, I thought about trying that. New Walther mags are going for $57 or more if you can find them.
